swim team banquet

Tonight we ventured to a local bbq place for our winter swim team banquet. There was a huge turn out of swimmers, parents, and grandparents-- we had lots of fun. Both boys got participation awards. A got several ribbons for placing at the state meet and an award for earning the most points for his age group for the year. Poor J (who only swam 1 event the entire season) was pretty bummed he didn't get an award. I was telling him that he has to swim in order to get an award like that. That's when I heard Coach Corie giving the final award for the evening. He said this swimmer was the most enthusiastic one on the team and he was getting this award and he only swam 1 event... you guessed it -- J got it! He ran to the front and was cheering the entire way. Needless to say- the entire room was laughing. J was bumping knuckles with Coach Larry, Coach Corie and Coach Jeff and had the biggest smile on his face. Everyone from fellow swimmer to the coaches thinks J is there strictly for their entertainment. The only thing that would've made the evening perfect is if daddy would've been there to share in the fun- but we will be sure to make up for it when he gets back!

We are counting the minutes 'til Scott arrives for a short visit. We've got a very busy weekend planned and we are hoping for semi decent weather. He has been in snow and pretty cold temps for most of the month- I hope he will have a few days of spring weather- it's been cold and rainy here today- so I am praying for a little sunshine!! We are also on spring break again this week- YIPPEE! A will be at school but J and I will be taking a few days off. We are going to spend some time with my cousin while we are out-- adding a girl to the mix should be fun! Wish us luck!!
